Promotion – any help?

Visitor numbers here are still growing – slowly. I had imagined they’d level off soon, but now I wonder if a bit more effort might ensure a higher steady-state.

The promotion I’ve done mainly has been at gigs I go to fairly regularly, like the BeBop club, Bristol Music Club, Ian Storrer’s gigs at the Lantern and Fringe in the Round. You may have seen the wallet-sized cards with the URL (I have a poor memory for faces so have bothered some people more than once: apologies to them!).

I figured I’d stop that soon, as most people I speak to tend to know about this place already. But a visit to St George’s for Andy Sheppard’s (brilliant) sellout gig last week made me wonder. I worked the bar in the interval and gave out another at least another fifty cards. I learnt:

a) that there are still plenty of people who don’t know about this calendar, but think it’s a good idea and

b) some audiences are too large to do by myself. I’m guessing I could have easily distributed another 100 if there had been time, and stamina!

So… I think I’ll keep spreading them around. I’ll order another 500 soon as a second batch are nearly all gone. Which seems a good time to ask if anyone would like to help. If you are going to a jazz gig at St George’s, for instance, the chances are I’ll be there, but I could do with a hand to give cards out at the door as people leave. There are also places I hardly ever get to – Strange Brew, the Jam Jar, El Rincon, et al, where some could usefully go.

So if anyone does want to help this site grow its audience – whether you are a gig goer or perhaps run a venue and would like to keep some of the cards on display – drop me a line at bristoljazzlive@gmail.com and we can sort out how to pass some on.

Thanks!
