Jazz Promotion Network Showcase

I said I’d post on this page for things out of the ordinary, and this one definitely qualifies. The UK Jazz Promotion Network is now fairly well established and its annual conference runs alongside a showcase of new(ish) bands that promoters might find it good to hear. Last year it happened in Bristol, and the bands were a fascinating selection.
This year the conference moves to Cardiff, where you’ll be able to catch a dozen or so bands who might not otherwise be in reach on Nov 6-7th. The live music will be in the concert hall of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, about a quarter of an hour walk from Cardiff station, so there’ll be plenty of room for everyone. You can get tickets for the music without being part of the conference, and it looks like a pretty good deal for one or both evenings.
There’ll be free music from RWCMD students in the foyer from 5.30 each day, then the full programme includes:
Burum
Donavan Haffner Quintet
Charlotte Keeffe
Dave Lyttle and Jazzlife
Joseph Leighton Quartet
Matthew Kilner Trio
Nils Kavanagh Trio
Norman and Corrie
Ruta-Di
Sylvie and Ursula
and special guests Huw Warren and Angharad Jenkins to finish, who’d be worth a special trip to see if they were the only people performing.
Thanks to support from various Arts Councils, the others come from Wales, Scotland and Ireland as well as England, so if you (like me) don’t recognise many of these names you can get full details here from the UKJPN website.
